March is National Women's History Month. This is a perfect time to celebrate and recognize the importance of women for our society, communities, culture and historic accomplishments through our history.
National Women's History Month was initiated by the National Women's History Project (NWHP), a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1980 to "promote gender equity through education about women's diverse lives and accomplishments." Before this, women's history was rarely the subject of serious study. Since then, many colleges offer women's history courses and doctoral degrees in the field.
