Every year, on the second week of July, we celebrate National Therapeutic Recreation Week. This celebration is organized since 1984 by the National Therapeutic Recreation Association.
This event’s goal is to raise awareness about the importance of leisure and recreation for all people. Therapeutic recreation uses treatment, education, and recreation services to help people with illnesses, disabilities and other conditions to develop and use their leisure in ways that enhance their health, functional abilities, independence, and quality of life.
