National Rose Month is celebrated each year on June. This celebration started thirty years ago.
Since 1986 the rose has been the official National Floral Emblem of the United States. About 60% of the roses grown in the U.S. are produced in California and these flowers are native to the United States.
Some interesting facts about the significance of the different colors of the roses are:
Red roses are the traditional symbol for love and romance, and a time-honored way to say "I love you."
Pink roses are often given as an expression of admiration.
Yellow roses evoke a feeling of warmth and happiness.
White roses represent innocence and purity and are traditionally associated with marriages.
