Loyalty Day was first commemorated in 1921 as "Americanization Day", and was expected to set off the celebration of Labour Day, an internationally celebrated holiday which was perceived as a communist holiday back then. It was made an official holiday by the U.S. Congress on July 18, 1958.
To celebrate Loyalty Day many parades and ceremonies are organized in several U.S. communities. Loyalty Day is an opportunity to express and reaffirm our loyalty to our country.
