Irish American Heritage Month takes place every year on March. This celebration was started in 1991, when the President of the United States issued a proclamation, and has done so each year since 1991. Later, in 1995, Congress proclaimed March as Irish-American Heritage Month.
The goal of this celebration is to recognize forty-four million Americans who proudly share their Irish ancestry. For generations, the sons and daughters of Ireland have come to America strengthening our Nation's character and enrichening our history.
