Groundhog Day takes place every year on February 2nd. This celebration started in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania in 1886.
On February 2, the groundhog comes out of his burrow to predict the weather for the rest of winter. According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil (the original groundhog) sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of bad weather. If he does not see his shadow, we will have an early spring.
